Newer versions of ATI and NVidia proprietary drivers periodically drop support for older cards. Apparently, the "legacy" older driver will never support newer versions of Xorg, so users depending on fglrx will be out of luck in future versions of Fedora.
This is another reason to only buy hardware that is supported by fully open drivers. The community project at least has a *CHANCE* to keep your hardware compatible in future versions long after the hardware vendor has lost interest in maintaining the driver.
Intel seems to be doing a good job at being an honest partner with the community. Will ATI and NVidia ever change in order to compete?
